Have grill splatters or spilled olive oil left stains on your slate? Here’s how to remove oil, grease, and wax stains from slate using an oil and grease remover paste. The product is highly effective on intense stains, has a mild odor, and is free from acids, lye, wax, resins, and silicones.

Ypu will need

  • Akemi Oil and Grease Remover Paste
  • Brush or spatula
  • Akemi Stone Cleaner (optional)

Ensure the Surface is Completely Dry. Recommended temperature: approximately 5 to 25°C (41 to 77°F).

Apply a layer at least 1-2 mm thick with a brush or spatula. The paste is creamy and easy to apply.

Allow the paste to dry.

Scrape or Brush Off the Dried Paste

For very intense staining, you may need to repeat the treatment.

It may be beneficial to clean the slate surface with a stone cleaner (e.g., Akemi Steinrens) at the end.

TIP: If you have slate under your grill or another area prone to oil spills, we recommend impregnating the surface to prevent stains in the first place. Impregnation is a quick and easy process—see how to impregnate slate here.
