Visit quarry & showroom

As an architect, you are invited to visit us for a closer look at how our slate materials are made – from quarrying to finished products. The visit offers a unique insight into the material’s properties, our processes, and the craftsmanship behind it. Let yourself be inspired, get to know us as a producer, and experience slate in a whole new way. We look forward to welcoming you!

The quarry

We begin in the mountains, where slate blocks that have remained untouched for hundreds of millions of years are extracted with a focus on quality and respect for nature. Our experienced blasting specialist uses traditional methods and precision to ensure the blocks are released in a way that preserves their structure and quality.

The cutting hall

Watch how our stonemasons work with the natural mica layers in the blocks to split them into thinner slabs. This process, carried out with tools that have been used for over a century, is an impressive combination of tradition and skill – still outperforming machines in precision.

Showroom

Here, you can explore different slate types, surfaces, and product ranges. In Oppdal, you’ll also see examples of mounting systems for pedestal flooring, roofs, and facades. At the large material table, you can experiment by combining slate with wood, steel, textiles and colours to create mood boards and concept sketches.

Come alone or bring your team!

You’re welcome to visit on your own or bring colleagues, the client, contractor, or other project partners. We accommodate groups of up to 10 people, and the visit is entirely free of charge. If you’re arriving by train, we’re happy to meet you at the station and provide transport to and from our site.

This is more than a guided tour

– it’s an experience that offers unique insight into the history and qualities of slate. We look forward to welcoming you to an inspiring and practical visit that may add new perspectives to your projects!
