Djurönäset is located in the archipelago outside Stockholm and is one of Sweden’s largest conference centres. The spa section, designed by Per Öberg Arkitekt in 2016, was developed with a focus on material quality, safety, and longevity.

Offerdal slate is used in the pool areas and on the floors of the spa section. Irregular slate and natural-surfaced tiles provide good slip resistance and high durability. The slate requires minimal maintenance and was chosen for its long lifespan and low environmental impact. The material is used both in and around the pool, creating a unified and functional expression throughout the wet zones.

The slate was transported from the quarry as a finished product and delivered to the construction site over a total distance of 680 km.
